This Privacy Policy describes how VocabBank ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website, mobile app, and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

  • Account info. Email address and authentication identifiers when you sign up or sign in (including via Google).
  • Content you create. Words, translations, sample sentences, notes, language preferences, and "known" status you save to your vocabulary bank.
  • Payment info. If you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe (on web) or Google Play Billing (on Android). We receive a customer ID, plan, and renewal/cancellation status — never your card number.
  • Usage analytics. Anonymous event data (e.g. word added, subscription opened) to understand product usage.
  • Device & log data. IP address, browser/OS, timestamps, and error logs needed to operate and secure the Service.

2. How we use information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Generate AI-powered definitions, translations, and example sentences for words you add.
  • Process subscriptions and enforce free-tier limits.
  • Send transactional emails (account, billing, support replies).
  • Detect, prevent, and respond to abuse or security incidents.

3. Service providers we share data with

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Stripe — web subscription billing.
  • Google Play — Android subscription billing.
  • Lovable AI Gateway — AI generation for definitions and translations.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Data retention and deletion

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual words at any time from inside the app.

To delete your entire account and all associated data, visit our account deletion page or email besharoe@yahoo.com. We will action verified requests within 30 days.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. EEA, UK, California), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us at the email above to exercise these rights.

6. Children

VocabBank is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encryption in transit (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and access controls on administrative tools. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email.
